PVD Coating

PVD coating means Physical Vapour Deposition of Titanium, Titanium Aluminium and Chromium. The process is also referred to as Titanium/ Titanium Aluminium/ Chromium plating. The technology behind PVD coating is based upon the principle of plasma acceleration. The method involves purely physical processes, such as low temperature vacuum evaporation with plasma sputter bombardment.

PVD coating is one of the best methods for enhancing thin film plating elements. The vacuum deposition method coats the product with a film of hard refractory material 1-2 microns thick.

  • Scratch Hardness: Load of cracking point, as seen below, was tested by scratching 150mm per minute with Kuremence Scratch Tester. The result showed Ion coating was 3 times harder than chemical coating on scratch resistant hardness.

What Materials are suitable for PVD Coating?

PVD Coating can be used on various materials, such as stainless steel, porcelain and glass Stainless steel is best recommended for PVD Coating. Stainless steel will fade and oxidise over time when exposed to the environment, humidity and other factors. However, stainless steel that has been PVD coated:
